Exposed aggregate
Surface washed back to reveal the stone. Grippy underfoot, hides marks, and no two driveways look identical.
Exposed aggregate, floating steps, slate and coloured finishes for homes across south-east Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Formed properly, poured once, and still square in ten years.
Five finishes and the walls that hold them up. Bring us a photo of something you like and we'll tell you what it is and what it costs.
Surface washed back to reveal the stone. Grippy underfoot, hides marks, and no two driveways look identical.
Oxide through the mix rather than on top, so chips and wear don't show a grey layer underneath.
Ground back to a smooth, low-sheen face. The sharpest looking option and the one that shows off good formwork.
A slate texture pressed into the surface while it's still wet. Reads like laid stone, but it's one continuous slab — nothing to lift, shift or grow weeds through.
Straightforward and hard-wearing, and the cheapest per square metre. Stipple or a broom finish adds grip where it slopes or gets wet.
Precast concrete panels set between steel posts, installed to hold a sloping block. Drainage behind the wall matters as much as the wall itself — that's where they fail.
Floating steps are the first thing people see coming up to a house, and the hardest thing to fix if they're not right. Each tread is steel reinforced and tied back into the footing. A few millimetres out on one throws the whole flight. Slow work, and the part we're fussiest about.
Four stages, in order. You'll know which one we're up to.
We measure up, check access for the truck and the fall for drainage, then quote a fixed price with the finish written on it.
Excavation, compacted base, formwork set to line and level, and reinforcement tied. This stage decides how the finished job looks.
Concrete placed, screeded and worked to the finish you chose. Exposed aggregate gets washed back once the surface has gone off enough.
Expansion cuts in, sealer applied where it's needed, formwork and spoil taken away. We tell you when it's right to drive on.
